Mental Health Counselor

JOB SUMMARY:
Midwest Asian Health Association (MAHA) is a non-profit organization with a mission to reduce health disparities for Asian and Pacific Islander Americans (APIAs) and other disenfranchised immigrant populations through culturally sensitive and linguistically appropriate community health programs. MAHA is seeking a full-time mental health counselor for its Community Mental Health Center.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide outpatient trauma informed individual, couples and family counseling services and care coordination
- Facilitate group therapy and/or psychoeducational groups as necessary
- Complete all necessary clinical documentation in compliance with Medicaid Rule 132/140, including mental health assessments and individualized treatment plans
- Participate in weekly Mental Health team meetings / group and individual supervision and other required staff meetings
- Collaborate with the Clinic Program Manager and Employment Specialist to address client needs
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in a field/discipline related to mental health such as psychology, social work, counseling, behavioral science, or marriage and family therapy.
Minimum one (1) year of clinical experience as a staff clinician in a mental health setting
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of addictions counseling assessment and treatment modalities; clinical addictions counseling experience – a plus, but not required.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Email, Excel, etc.)
- Must be eligible and able to obtain a fingerprint card and background check prior to hire
- Evening or weekend availability a plus

Case Manager/Job Developer
Midwest Asian Health Association (MAHA) is a non-profit organization with a mission to reduce health disparities through community health programs. MAHA has an immediate full-time position opening as Case Manager/Job Developer for the Job Training and Economic Development Program (JTED), funded by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO).
Description of Duties/Essential Functions:
This position serves the low-income individuals with various barriers to job market and increases their employment opportunities and promotion by providing job skill training. Responsibilities include:
- Community outreach to identify, recruit, and enroll individuals who are low income with limit English proficiency
- Provide case management and job development for the program participants
- Screen and intake participants and provide them training orientation with training goals and objectives
- Attend various trainings to learn about the state data system administered by IDHS
- Data input and documentation of participants’ information and training achievements and completion
- Training program coordination and preparation
- Develop employment resources and strategies for job development tailored to each individual’s interest and skills
- Provide job training and skill building to the customers for job placement
- Outreach to potential employers for job matching and placement.
- Assist the participants with resume and interview skills and connect them with potential employment opportunities
- Develop relationships with clients and employers, and provide support for job retention
- Provide reports to IDHS for demonstrate program progress and impact
- Other administrative responsibilities assigned by the supervisor
Requirements:
- At least two years of related experiences and working with immigrant communities
- Experience and skills outreaching to employers and job markets
- Excellent communication and marketing skills required
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Ability to take multiple tasks and work under deadlines
- Required to use his/her own automobile on the job and to maintain his/her own bodily injury/liability insurance
- Feel comfortable to talk to people and be persuasive to promote mission

Project Coordinator – Aurora Office
Midwest Asian Health Association (MAHA) is a non-profit organization with a mission to reduce health disparities for medically underserved populations through culturally sensitive and language appropriate community health programs. MAHA is seeking a full- time Project Coordinator for its Navigator Program in the Western Suburbs office located at: 4360, E. New York St., Room 105, Aurora, IL 60504.
Job Summary:
The Project Coordinator will provide Navigator Services by reaching low-income and/or uninsured clients, scheduling appointments for enrollment and post-enrollment services, and providing community outreach to recruit customers. The Project Coordinator is highly visible in the community and will be a prime representative of MAHA in the western suburbs.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct community outreach to promote the Navigator Program and recruit clients
- Develop partnerships with community organizations, local public health departments, health and human resources departments, and other social service agencies.
- Conducting in-depth interviews with applicants to help determine eligibility
- Provide one-on-one application assistance for health insurance or various benefits at partner sites, community sites, health and enrollment fairs, and any other opportunity identified by partners to reach potential enrollees.
- Provide information and assistance in a fair, accurate and impartial manner that is culturally and linguistically appropriate to diverse communities
- Any other administrative and clerical duties as they arise
Job Requirements:
- This position must come to MAHA’s Chicago office for the first 30-60 days of employment for training before being able to work independently at Aurora office
- Must possess an Illinois Driver’s license with reliable access to a vehicle
- Excellent verbal, written and communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Knowledge or experience with health insurance eligibility and enrollment; knowledge of public benefit systems helpful
- Two years of customer service experience required. Ability to work with diverse populations in providing direct, face-to-face customer services; maintain high level of sensitivity to those populations; maintain privacy and security standards.
- Proficiency in English and Chinese verbal communication skills or English and Spanish written/verbal communication is required.

Program Coordinator

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement immunization and community health outreach and education activities and events in DuPage, Kane counties, and surrounding communities.
- Recruit program participants for education and immunization and ensure the healthcare service needs among the service population and program goals are met according to the schedule.
- Develop and maintain resources and working relationships with community partners, schools, health care providers, and other entities in the region.
- Identify community leaders to gain their input and ideas for community outreach, education, access to vaccination, and program development.
- Organize program related partnership meetings and activities, coordinate immunization events, health education workshops, and conduct outreach activities within the communities, schools, churches, and community-based organizations.
- In collaboration with MAHA community health program staff to conduct community needs assessment to identify Covid-19 vaccination and healthcare needs among service populations and develop intervention plan and strategies.
- Develop health education and outreach materials and evaluation tools.
- Conduct referral services and provide proper follow ups.
- Assist clients with benefit enrollment as needed.
- Document program progress and compile progress reports in a timely manner.
- Report to the supervisor on the weekly basis and act as a liaison between MAHA’s Aurora office and main office.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Ability to work with diverse populations

MAHA is seeking two full-time bilingual ACA (Affordable Care Act) Navigators.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducting interviews with applicants to help determine eligibility; researching rules and regulations and explaining rights and responsibilities of clients.
- Acquiring and verifying relevant eligibility information such as residence, citizenship, family size, and income; assisting applicants in obtaining information and in resolving any discrepancies as needed.
- Determining initial and renewal eligibility for financial assistance in accordance with established policies and procedures; researching policies and rules to obtain answers to questions of applicant or client eligibility.
- Raise awareness about coverage options available under Medicaid, CHIP and the Marketplace and assist individuals in understanding and accessing affordability options.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with applicants and recipients of financial assistance, co-workers, community partners, and others to meet their needs.
- Assist with phone calls, scheduling appointments and fielding questions at regional call center.
- Provide one-on-one assistance in person and/or over the phone to facilitate enrollee’s selection of a qualified health plan. Assist families and individuals in navigating the health insurance system to find the most affordable coverage that meets their needs.
- Provide timely referrals to other resources, such as the toll-free Marketplace Call Center, or to other state or local entities that can more effectively serve that individual.
- Provide referrals to any applicable office of health insurance consumer assistance or ombudsman established under Section 2793 of the PHS Act to address consumer grievances, complaints, or questions about their health plan, coverage, or a determination as needed.
Experience and Qualifications
- Ability to work with diverse populations; maintain sensitivity and meet privacy and security standards.
